Make An Eternal Impact With EOU In Action
Join us as we bring a true knowledge of Jesus Christ to the EOU campus by fostering spiritual dialogue and study of the Bible.
Our Happenings
By participating in EOU In Action, you’ll be investing in a dynamic relationship with the God who loves you, and also engaging with other students who are on the same journey. Come check us out on campus.
Malachi Bible Study
To us, the Bible isn’t just a way to learn about God and understand what He wants for our lives, it’s also a way to fellowship with God and develop a deeper intimacy with Him. The Malachi study is every other Sunday night at 6.00pm at Matt and Jess’s house (see event calendar for details).
Here is a sampling of the topics we’ll be discussing spring term 2021:
How should Christians manage their finances?
How do our attitudes about God effect our giving?
Is $15 minimum wage a biblical concept?
Does hell exist and who goes there?
What is heaven like and who goes there?
How can we develop an eternal perspective?
Apologetics
Apologetics is the art of using reasoned arguments to defend a theory or religious doctrine. We love to reason through some of the tough questions people have about God and truth in general, and more specifically, what we can believe about Jesus Christ.
In addition to studying the Bible, we’ll address some of these foundational questions/topics:
How to have spiritual conversations with friends and family while being diplomatic and gracious.
How to ask better questions when engaged in spiritual dialogue.
How to reverse the burden of proof or make a point by asking questions.
How to keep spiritual/worldview questions on track by narrating the debate.
What is moral relativism and how does it impact society?
What is Critical Theory and is it biblical?
How does God view human power structures and are they inherently oppressive?
Why is biblical Christianity different from other world religions?

EOU In Action Leaders
“Our goal is to see a day when we have a strong core of students dedicated to learning about Jesus and growing in Him, where their life purpose is centered on Jesus and the gospel.”
Matt grew up in the Seattle area and was extremely involved sports his entire childhood. He started running competitively in high school and went to the University of Portland on a distance running scholarship, graduating with a degree in Accounting and an M.B.A. with a concentration in finance. Matt worked for Athletes in Action for three years at University of Washington, and also with Campus Crusade for 2.5 years at various small colleges. He is now a triathlon coach and local web design and SEO professional in the Eastern Oregon area, in addition to his duties at EOU In Action.
Jess was born and raised in California and was just crazy enough to get involved with Matt. She has a M.A. in French from San Jose State University and served many years as a Children’s Leader with Bible Study Fellowship. Now she and Matt and married and she loves endurance sports (almost) as much as he does. Jess currently works in the admissions department at Eastern Oregon University.
